Fire Alarm Design Tool v2.0
Load your drawing, draw rooms, auto-place smoke and heat detectors to BS 5839-1 or NFPA 72, add call points and sounders, check coverage gaps, address loops, and export the device schedule and BOQ.

How to use: 1) Load your plan (PDF, PNG or JPG; export DWG to PDF first) and set the scale on a known dimension. 2) Draw each room or corridor as a rectangle and set its ceiling height and detection type. 3) Auto-place fills each room with the fewest detectors on an even grid so every point is within the coverage radius: BS 5839-1 smoke 7.5 m and heat 5.3 m; NFPA 72 0.7 × spacing (smoke 9.1 m → 6.4 m; heat per listed spacing, reduced for ceilings over 3 m). Red dots show uncovered points. 4) Add call points at exits and on escape routes (BS 5839-1:2025: 45 m travel / 30 m straight line; NFPA 72: within 1.5 m of each exit, 61 m travel), sounders, beacons, modules and the panel. 5) Address loops numbers devices from the panel and estimates cable per loop. Flat, smooth ceilings assumed: beams, slopes, airflow, voids and stairs need the designer's judgement. Design aid only; confirm with the standard, the product datasheets and the authority having jurisdiction (in KSA, SBC 801 / Civil Defense). Techubox.com
How to use the Fire Alarm Design Tool
Plan an addressable fire alarm system faster. Place detectors, manual call points, sounders and modules on your plan, check detector spacing and sounder coverage, size the standby batteries and export a bill of quantities. Device data covers common brands such as Apollo, Notifier, Edwards and Hochiki.
Step by step
- Upload the floor plan and set the scale.
- Choose BS 5839 or NFPA 72 rules and the panel.
- Place detectors, call points, sounders and I/O modules.
- Check spacing circles, sounder reach and loop current.
- Open the battery calculation and export the BOQ as CSV.
Worked example
A small loop drawing 153 mA in standby and 374 mA in alarm needs about 5 Ah for 24 hours standby plus 30 minutes alarm with a 25% margin, so two 12 V 7 Ah batteries in series are enough.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a replacement for a certified design?
No. It speeds up layout and checks, but the final design must follow the standard, the device datasheets and the authority having jurisdiction (in Saudi Arabia, SBC 801 and Civil Defense).
Which device currents are used?
Datasheet values where confirmed, and typical values elsewhere. Always check the datasheet of the exact model you will install.
Can I design more than one panel?
Yes. You can network several panels and the addresses are numbered per panel and loop.
